Abstract

This study was performed to find out the current situation of health education activities of occupational health nurses and the related personal and their work environmental factors in Kyonggi and Inchon area.
Available subjects for this study were 136 occupational health nurses and the study was carried out by questionary survey between January 1, 1995 and February 28, 1995.
The results were suxmnarized as follows
1. Majority of the occupational health nurses studied were young(20?29 years age group, 68.4%) and single(71.3%), 94.1% of the study subjects were junior college graduates and worked in in dustry for 1 ?-4 years.
2. Majority(86.0%) of the study subjects were from manufacturing induatriea and almoat aaine pioportion(86.8%) were employed in factories that have less than 1,000 workers. 91.900 of subjects were working at independent OH dispensaries and 69,1% were full time occupational health nurses.
3. Less than half (44.1%) of the study subjects were satisfied with their position as profession, but only 14.7% were satisfied with payment. 51.5% were satisfied with their autonomy, but 29.4% were dissatisfied with administrative support form their companies and 28,7%, with their working conditions.
4. Those who were satisfied with their position as a profession and those who enjoying high autonomy showed significantly higher performance in health education activities.
5. Those who were activity performing the health education activities also showed significantly higher performance in health counseLing, study on occupational disease, workshop rounding, follow-up care workers¡¯ illness, and vaccination ac-P vities.
6. Moot frcciucnt method the occupational health nuise -were using in their health education activities was printed material distribution(7&6%), and the mast frequent subject they were dealing in their health education was emergency care(70.3%). 73.9% of the study subjects were doing health education when the workers visited the dispensaries. u Lduk of iecuguitiumi frurrm employer was major problem the occupational health nurses had in their occupational health service, and the inap-
